Kids yoga

At schools, after-school care, or wherever it is needed. Yoga poses, breathing exercises and relaxation, wrapped in stories and play that fit the age group.

Kids yoga at Yogastudio Enya

Kids yoga, ages 4 to 12

A class runs 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the group. The poses sit inside a story, and the story fits whatever is going on in the classroom. With a restless group I work more with breath and grounding; with a group that sits still all day I work with movement.

Children learn something here they can use for the rest of the day: a way to bring themselves back when it gets to be too much.

Toddler yoga, roughly ages 2 to 4

At the daycare centre, in short playful sessions full of stories, animals and movement. Just enough structure for a toddler, and enough room to explore.

What it does: it supports motor development during a phase of fast growth, teaches toddlers to sit still and listen in a playful way, gives a first experience of rest and breathing, and encourages imagination and language through stories and movement.

Where I teach

I come to where the children already are: primary schools, after-school care and daycare centres in Amsterdam and the surrounding area. A single class, a block of several weeks, or a fixed slot in the timetable all work.

Alongside kids yoga I work in youth care. That shows in how I handle a group on a day when it does not come easily.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need yoga experience?

No. Some of the people in class have never been on a mat. Classes are built so you can join without knowing anything, and there is always an easier option.

Are classes taught in English?

If someone in the room does not speak Dutch, the class is taught in English. Mention it when you book.
